The founders of TACONET intended the network to be an informal association of researchers, teachers at university and school and students who are interested in Technology Enhanced Learning Environments (TELEs) that support Self-regulated Learning (SRL).

TACONET was founded in 2004 by members of the European project
“Self-regulated Learning in Technology Enhanced Learning Environments at University Level: a Peer Review (TELEPEERS)” (see also http://www.lmi.ub.es/telepeers/).
Project partners were Universität zu Köln / Germany (coordinator), Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam / The Netherlands,
Universidade Católica Portuguesa / Portugal, Aalborg University / Denmark, CNR Istituto per le Tecnologie Didattiche / Italy,
Nottingham Trent University / U.K., Universitat de Barcelona / Spain, Université de Technologie de Compiegne / France,
Universitetet i Bergen / Norway. Tools (questionnaires) which we developed to evaluate the potential of TELEs to support SRL are still available (see Tools).
Since then, membership has increased appreciably. Today, we have members from almost all European and from a number of non-European countries. If you would like to join TACONET, please register on the contact us page.

Previous TACONET conferences were held in Barcelona (2004), Lisbon (2005), Amsterdam (2007) and Barcelona (2010).
